Datatek’s SAID text editor is an easy-to-use text editor available for Open Systems, including AIX, HPUX, DG/UX, Solaris, and Linux. SAID allows users to create and modify text files, providing users with a wide range of editing options. SAID has a number of switches that provide additional functionality such as enhanced security and the ability to apply command files to other files.
Since SAID was originally designed to emulate the functionality and environment of Data General’s SED editor, Data General users can bypass the task of retraining on another product, such as the cryptic editors shipped with UNIX. Immediately, users can create and edit text files, using the same commands and command line interface, thus maintaining productivity. Also, since SAID is character based, investments in existing terminals can be retained.
